Hi, my name is Tracy!

I’m not an art major but I’ve been making art for most of my life. I was very interested in drawing as a kid since most of the stuff I watched were animated cartoons/anime, so my favorite things to draw are usually fanart of movies and shows that I love. I took art classes outside of school when I was younger, so I have a good foundation on the basics, anatomy, proportions, and experience in drawing realism.

Check out my old middle school/high school art here!

I’ve worked with mediums like acrylic, color pencil, watercolor, but I find that I really like to draw digitally and usually gravitate towards that the most because it’s an easy way to make art wherever you are. I started off with Clip Studio Paint, but I usually use Procreate now. I was mostly influenced to draw digitally because of social media and the amazing art that you see online, and these artists continue to be my biggest motivation to improve my art in new and creative ways. The way that artists mold their own distinct and unique art styles really pushes me to try and figure out how I can find my own art style. The webtoons, online comics, and original characters that they create are so interesting and I eventually want to make my own story like they do.

Here are a few of my favorite artists.

Another aspect that influences me to make art is music. I love to imagine and draw scenes that match the mood of songs that I listen to, and I love how you can convey a lot of emotions through drawings. The new show Arcane is such a good inspiration for art both in their unique and beautiful animation style and the powerful soundtrack.

That’s mainly why I like to make art; outside of the fact that drawing is just fun, it’s impactful to be able to successfully convey a tone in your works through the overall aesthetic, composition, and colors.

My favorite traditional artist is Edward Hopper, and I feel that he is incredibly good at expressing his overall theme of loneliness in the modern American society through the colors and composition.

Have a listen!!

Here is some of my greatest inspirations from my favorite traditional artist, Edward Hopper.

Because I usually draw fanart, I don’t have any philosophical or deep meaning to my original works. I also don’t have an organized approach to making my art. But this is mainly the reason why I wanted to take Digital Art; I feel like I have art block so I’d like to experiment with my art and learn some new tech skills that can help me diversify what I’m doing. I hope to find my own approach to how I view and make art in the future!

I'll leave you with some digital art finished and works in progress that I've been working on right now (more wips than finished because I have major art block).
